It is said that the name "Syria"
finds its origins in the name of the god "Shamash"
which means Sun in Aramaic. Even though this is only
a legend there is more than a grain of truth to it,
for Syria is a land of constantly shining sun, even
in Winter, and during the Summer clouds are hardly
ever seen in the sky. The four seasons are quite
distinct from one another in Syria. The average
temperature and range of temperatures in homs
is as follows:
- Spring: 20 °c (15-25 °c)
- Summer: 32 °c (28-36 °c)
- Autumn: 20 °c (15-25 °c)
- Winter: 08 °c (04-12 °c)
